Book Arts Journey, a Presentation by Naomi S. Velasquez
In this presentation, we will explore Naomi S. Velasquez’s book arts journey and inspiration. Naomi’s work includes artist’s books, altered books, art quilts (both two- and three-dimensional), letterpress prints and broadsides, and collaborative and community projects.
Please note: Our August speaker’s work includes content with sensitive themes. Viewer discretion is advised. The content includes work about: divorce, refugees, banned books, pandemics, viruses, LGBTQ rights, abuse, and mental illness.
Naomi S. Velasquez is a contemporary textile and book artist. Her artwork is consistently shown internationally and nationally and in diverse venues ranging from galleries to public works installations. Naomi holds an MFA from the University of North Texas in Studio Art, Fibers. She is a Professor in the Department of Art at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, and the coordinator for the Fiber Media and Papermaking areas. Her work is held in numerous private and public collections including the University of Denver Library, Emory University Library, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, and the University of North Texas Special Collection.
