Procreate for Book Artists—From Digital Sketch to Artist’s Book, a Salon with Victoria Rabinowe

This salon will explore how Procreate on an iPad can support brainstorming, image-making, pattern development, collage, lettering, mockups, and the planning of handmade and digitally produced books. The program is like a simplified Photoshop with layers, brushes, selections, masks, textures, and text. A cool tool! Rather than presenting Procreate as a replacement for traditional art-making processes, the salon will consider it a flexible studio tool—one that can help artists move fluidly between digital experimentation and physical production.
We welcome both experienced digital artists and those encountering the program for the first time. Participants may bring an iPad and Apple Pencil if they wish to follow along.
Procreate is available for iPad, not Android tablets. Your iPad needs to run iPadOS 16.3 or later for the current version of Procreate.
To install it on an iPad:
- Open the App Store
- Search for Procreate by Savage Interactive
- Tap the price button, currently $12.99 in the U.S.
- Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password
- Tap Open after it finishes installing
